Round two fixtures begin in Barossa and Light cricket

Saturday saw day one of round two fixtures played in Barossa and Light cricket's A1 competition with two of the five fixtures already premiership points secured.


At Nuriootpa, the home side went to stumps having secured first-innings points against Mallala. Nuri went to stumps at 3 for 141 with a lead of 60 after bowling out Mallala for just 81 earlier in the day. Daniel Doecke finished with figures of 5 for 15 from his 11 overs for Nuri. Travis Jungfer went to stumps undefeated on 46 to be best with the bat.



At Saddleworth Oval, it was Gilbert Valley batting first against Lyndoch. The home side was bowled out for just 120 in the 41st over. Lyndoch opening bowler George Clarridge was the destroyer, finishing with figures of 5 for 32 from 12 overs.


In reply, Lyndoch blazed their way to 4 for 123 at stumps from just 35 overs. Trent Burge (46*) and John Owen (40*) steadied the Lyndoch innings after they came together at 4 for 36. The pair put on an unbeaten partnership of 87 by stumps.


At Greenock, the home team batted first against Angaston and were bowled out for 163 in the 67th over. Ben Thiel top-scored for Greenock with 40 with Jayden Antonie finishing with figures of 7 for 43 from 18.3 over for Angaston. Greenock snuck in 3 overs before stumps, claiming the wicket of Luke Doecke for a duck. Angaston will resume on Saturday at 1 for 4.


At South Gawler, the home side won the toss and sent Sandy Creek in to bat first. With Sandy Creek in trouble at 4 for 64, a 120 run partnership developed between Handtke and Greenlees taking the score to 4 for 184. A late batting collapse saw the Creek lose 6 for 17 to be bowled out in the final over of the days play for 201.


At Stockwell Oval, Light Pass took on Tanunda with no details on the days play available at this time.
