Humble pie drizzled with Belgian chocolate for FIFA World Cup

Football expert Johnny Moore unpacked the latest World Cup action on the Arvo Flow Sports Hour this week, with the overriding narrative of the tournament so far being the ability of underdog nations to surprise the world on the biggest stage.

Moore provided an explanation for why his favourites to take out this year’s FIFA World Cup, Belgium, have fallen embarrassingly short of the mark, highlighting Roberto Martinez’s team’s poor defensive structure.

Moore also focussed on Wales after a 64-year wait to return to the FIFA World Cup culminated in a devastating 3-0 defeat to rivals England.

Despite the Welsh failing to make it past the group stages of this year’s tournament, many outsider nations such as Japan and Australia from the Asian Confederation have overachieved and stunned the world, which Moore said was one of the main reasons why this World Cup has been one of the most exciting yet.
