Fatal Crash near WA border to cause traffic delays

SA police are advising those travelling from South Australia to Western Australia by car to expect long delays near Border Village following a fatal crash yesterday.

SA Police were assisted at the scene by Western Australian Police immediately following the crash. Major crash investigators have flown into the area to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident occurred yesterday at 4.30 pm Saturday with a truck rolling over about 5km east of the WA border. Sadly the driver of the truck died at the scene.

SAPOL released a statement this morning saying the Eyre Highway was blocked in both directions for a number of hours but has reopened. However, the flow of traffic is being managed at the scene and delays are expected.

In the statement, SAPOL say due to extensive delays at the Border Village it is suggested drivers take advantage of Ceduna as a rest stop prior to crossing the border.

The man’s death is the 77th life lost on SA roads compared with 71 at the same time last year.
