Australia's men's and women's cricket teams both basked in glorious wins over India yesterday, with the former levelling the five-match test series and 1-1, and the latter taking an insurmountable 2-0 lead in their ODI series.

Hometown hero Travis Head made a memorable 140 runs to lead Australia to a ten-wicket victory at Adelaide Oval.

Australia led by 157 runs after each team's first innings, and skittled India for 175 in their second innings, leaving Nathan McSweeney and Usman Khawaja to chase just 19 runs for victory.

The pair needed just 20 deliveries to reach their target and secure victory on day three.

Under fire after a poor first test, Australia's fast bowlers responded viciously; Mitch Starc took 6/48 in the first innings and finished with eight wickets for the match, while captain Pat Cummins took 5/57 in the second innings to finish with seven for the match.

Scott Boland added five wickets, but is likely to be the unlucky man out to make way for Josh Hazelwood in the next test.

Marnus Labuschagne also responded to immense pressure with 64 runs, only his second score of 60 or more in his last 11 innings.

With the third test set to begin at The Gabba on Saturday, the fitness of Mitch Marsh and Jasprit Bumrah will be under the microscope this week.

Australia's women beat India by 122 runs in their second ODI, led by centuries from Ellyse Perry and Georgia Voll.

Voll and Phoebe Litchfield started Australia's innings in brilliant fashion, combining for 130 runs before India finally took their first wicket - Litchfield for 60 runs - in the 20th over.

Voll went on to make 101 off 87 balls, while Perry made 105 off 75 to lead Australia to 8/371.

India's top order were competitive in reply with four batters making between 38 and 54, but they could only muster up 249 runs before being bowled all out in the 45th over.

Annabel Sutherland led Australia's bowling attack with 4/39.
