A commercial quantity of abalone has been seized by Fisheries officers in a joint operation with Yorke Mid-North Police yesterday at Port Minlacowie.
On Monday, police received information from the public in relation to suspicious fishing behaviour. PIRSA Fisheries officers were called in to investigate further.
At about 4 pm, Police and Fisheries Officers attended Port Minlacowie Boat Ramp, where they intercepted four men and located 851 abalone - 806 being under the legal size limit.
The abalone, equipment and a boat were seized by Officers as part of the prosecution process.
A 21-year-old from Maitland, a 32-year-old from Clearview, a 38-year-old from Port Victoria and a 47-year-old from Port Lincoln were interviewed by Fisheries Officers for offences under the Fisheries Act and their investigation is continuing.
